:: Hobbit::
"The Hobbit, or There and Back Again" - a book which has fascinated children all over the world for amost 70 years, had been written in fact by chance. Because Tolkien wrote it to his own children, to whom he was reading fantastic stories during long, winter evenings.But time was going by and kids grew up. And the unfinished manuscript a future bestseller laid forgotten in the writer's studio. However, one of publishing houses found out about it, and soon they asked Tolkien to complete his story. Then the book was given to a nine year old boy to review. The young critic claimed that the tale was very absorbing and all children would love it. And so in 1936 "The Hobbit" appeared at the booksellers. But nobody expected such an impressing succes: Tolkien's work carried off the honourable title of the best book for children in 1937. The title hero - Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit, a little man who loves good food, laughing and hates going far from his village. But one day his comfortable life is disturbed by wizard Gandalf and thirteen dwarfs who invite him to conquer together a legendary treasure guarded by dragon Smaug.
Finally the hobbit decided to go on this dangerous trip. On his way he met gobblins, trolls, famishing wolfs, eagles, elves, humans and water monster called Gollum who is the owner of "precious".
I am not going to retell you this story because if so I would spoil you the whole pleasure of reading. But I can honestly assure you of taking continuation of "The Hobbit" ("The Lord of the rings") after you finish it. So enjoy your reading!
