As you know, everything in the world has its begining and nothing happens without meaning. We get to know about the existence of Bilbo when he started job by his father- Bungo Baggins , in Bungo’s father's counting-shop in 1267, when he was 21. Because of that, 3 years later, Bungo began studying to become an antiquarian and started going with his father (Mungo Baggins) for commercial trips. Also that year Bungo went with his father for 80s birthday of Mungo’s friend - Gerontius Tuk. At that party Bungo met Wizard Gandalf, (who you must know), and got to know Belladonna Tuk, Gerontius’ daughter. She was 6 years younger than Bungo but also liked trips (she made a few with her brother Hildifons). She got to like Bungo and Bungo liked her too. You must know that they looked very nice together, but after a few days Bungo had to come back home with Mungo and didn't see Belladonna for a few years.
His commercial career began when he was 29 and made first big contract. By the way, in the day of this event he found an interesting document, but nobody knew what it was. The document was a good excuse to meet Belladonna, whom he couldn't forget,so he went to Tuk's house , where his excuce - Gandalf was staying at the moment. Only a clever wizard could know the answer for the message that was included in the mysterious document. Unfortunately even Gandalf didn't know the answer but he decided to try to explain it. However, the most important thing is that Bungo met his sweetheart again. That time she was already a hostess and she became really responsible. Maybe I shouldn't tell you but when they were alone Bungo kissed Belladonna and it was a kiss like in famous stories - hot and sensitive.
After a couple of years in 1279, when Bungo was 33- and it meant that he became adult ( Yes, yes it is true, hobbits became adult just after they were 33 years old!), he made a great birthday party and he invited all Tuck family. Belladonna was his most important guest and he didn't leave her for a moment during the birthday. But now I won't tell you what they were doing when no one saw them! A year later Bungo often went for commercial trips and thanks to it he could frequently meet Belladonna. They also often write to each other. That year Gerontius Tuck had 90th birthday, and there was a great party at Tuk's house. Bungo met Gandalf there and found out that the mysterious document was an Elf's grand king's will, which said where Elfs' great treasure was , the treasure which had been hidden before by legendary invaders. It meant that soon Bungo would get a big prize for his discovery and become a rich and respectable person. The next year wasn't good for Bongo. His father was very ill, he was 74 and Bungo was afraid of his health. He argued with his 21 years old brother Longo and what was worse, Belladonna went east with Gandalf. It was a hard period in his life…. 3 years later he was making an important business in Bree, it was the inheritance case of Mr. Underhill. He had just been sitting in Boreman Butterburr's Inn, when somebody went into. Bungo looked back and saw well- known faces. They were: his friend Gandalf and his sweetheart- Belladonna. He was very surprised and happy, that he could see them again. He found out that they were in Rivendall- an amazing land full of high mountains and rapid rivers. Belladonna was already 32 but Bungo thought that she was more beautiful than earlier. I think it was true, women are like wine the older the better ( until they are really old- you know even wine might get worse). When they came back Bungo and Belladonna had a serious talk about their future life together. Next year was very important for future life of Bungo ( and for Bilbo). During the party celebrating 33rd Belladonna's birthdays he and Belladonna got engaged. Everyone expected that event for long time because they loved each other very much. You should have seen that party! I think there were all Tuks and not only them. There were about 200 people! Tables were full of meat, fruit and of course traditional delicious wine- yes wine, it had to be very strong because nobody remembered the rest of the party. But it doesn't matter. I know one thing after Bungo came back to himself he bought a property under Hillock and began building his own mink. In the meantime Belladonna send a letter to her sister Mirabella, who was staying in Brandy Hall, because she wanted her to come to the wedding. As far as the wedding is concerned it took place next year in spring. That was a party! 40 years old hobbit had never seen as many people as at this celebration and what's better ( I think) he had never seen as much wine as there was drunk. Don't know why only Mirabella didn't come to the ceremony but I'm sure Belladonna Tuck and Bungo Baggins were that day the happiest people in the world. After the wedding they moved on to already finished mink under Hillock. It was the most beautiful mink in the closest neighborhood, so as Belladonna wrote in a letter to her sister their flat was big, bright, full of flowers and had a large bed. And don't ask why this last one was so important, I can only tell you that it was connected with Bilbo's birth. By the way, Bilbo was born 4 years later. It took place in the year of 100th Gerontius Tuck' s birthday. It is funny but it was exactly at this party, at which there was Gandalf, who blessed Bilbo. When Mirabella sent a letter to sister she wrote why she couldn't came to the wedding ceremony. It's incredible but Mirabella had been kidnapped by bandits and then rescued by friendly eagles but it's another story and maybe I'll tell you it someday- I don't know. 10 years later Mungo Baggins died, and that day Longo argued with Bungo again. The argument broke out because Longo wanted a share in Bungo’s business (as it was very profitable) not remembering the fact, that it was him who decided to move to Sackville and take over Baggins’ business there. After years Bilbo almost forgot the ceremony but he remembered very well the argument between his father and uncle.
Next year was much better. Bilbo made one of his favorite journeys, he went to 111th birthday party of his grandfather Gerontius but nothing special would have happened if there hadn’t been Gandalf there. Wizard decided to amuse frightened Bilbo ( everyone might be terrified by a huge, strangely dressed and carrying a big staff human) and made for him a great firework show. Bilbo was admired and since then he liked Gandalf very much. That year Belladonna began to teach Bilbo foreign languages, she wanted to her only son was a clever and good person. Well it is typical for every mother in the world. She also started to write diaries from all her travels and regular letters to her sister.
Years were passing... Bilbo was growing, learning and getting to know the world. At the age of 19 he began a practice in his father's counting-shop and went with him for travels in business too. He also used to continue his father's collecting passion. Meanwhile Bungo tried to rebuild friendship with Longo but unsuccessfully, though even Bilbo wanted to help them agree. A year later Gandalf visited the mink under the Hillock. He was on his way to Tukon and decided to visit Bongo’s family for 120th Gerontius birthday too. During the trip he made a speech to Bungo about Bilbo. Wizard wanted Bilbo to go with him and get to know a piece of world. Unfortunately, we all know hobbits aren't cool travelers and hate leaving their lands. Gandalf spoke to Bilbo, but young hobbit was afraid of the big and unknown world. Well... he couldn't do anything. When they came to Tukon old Gerontius welcomed them joyfully. He missed especially his daughter, who he hadn't seen for ,,ages". He was very happy all his family remembered about him and made the best ceremony in his life, a bit help he got from Gandalf, who used his magic and made colorful and amazingly beautiful firework show. Everyone enjoyed it. A week letter Bilbo made his first professional contract. He was very proud because of that ( but not more than his father). After this event Beladonna took Bilbo and went to visit her sister in Brandy Hall. When they were out , winter came to Shire. Bungo was really seriously ill. Bilbo, as all the adults were fighting against white wolves and couldn’t look after him. Fortunately a nice neighbor looked after Bungo and helped him survive this acute winter. Meanwhile Bilbo’s mother was at Mirabella’s. The weather wasn't better also there and she had to fight with inconvenience of nature and not only with it. When Bilbo went to provide some supplies of water and food to help her, he was attacked by wild wolves, who came from the north. He surely might die if there wasn't any help. When he almost was bitten by these creatures unexpectedly there appeared a huge, measured about 2 meters high eagles, who rescued Bilbo. Hobbit was almost unconscious and only managed to thank them. He fell asleep and woke up in eagles' nest. He was a bit hurt but asked eagles if they could take him home. Bilbo didn't have to tell them the way because eagles knew Mirabella very well - they also had helped her earlier. You can imagine how happy Belladonna was when she saw her son alive. She thanked animals warmly for everything what they did. After all this event she wrote a letter to Bungo but she didn't say everything what happened, because she didn’t want him to be worried. They came back home in the spring. Bungo was much weaker than earlier and he couldn't take care of the house and the counting-shop. Every duty fell on Bilbo. He had to make every businesses in family alone. Belladonna tried to help Bilbo but she didn't have enough knowledge about commerce to be helpful. Instead of that she looked after Bungo and tried to make an agreement between her husband and Longo. Unfortunately unsuccessfully again – Longo was very stubborn and wanted to run the all the business alone. Soon there 125th Gerontius birthday came. The ceremony wasn't so ostentatious as in the past. Old Gerontius wasn't so fit as he used to be, he suffered from poor eyesight and was deaf on one ear. Belladonna was very sad when she came back home she knew her father was older and older and he doesn't have much time left. Bilbo was doing his best to make his mother happier but he had no idea how to do that - nothing worked. After 5 years in 1320 Gerontius died. It was a huge loss for everybody, especially for Belladonna, Mirabella and Hildifons, who came from Rivendall to say goodbye to the father! At the ceremony there were all Tuks. Except them there arrived: Gandalf, Buckland's inheritor, Tukon's mayor, Brownies from Azure Mountains and of course Bilbo with his father. Bungo felt a bit better (enough to arrive). Unfortunately there was also Longo, who made a horrible wrangle with Bilbo. I think he must be drunk, because he shouldn't argue with ill brother, especially at the funeral. Gerontius left the last will and it's executer became 30 years old Bilbo. It was a big honor but Hobbit didn't feel lucky. He was really sad, but it was nothing in comparison to Belladonna. She was closest to her father of all of them. She cried for many nights before she got over his death. Fortunately after a few weeks everything came back to the old order. 3 years later Bilbo was celebrating his majority. It was a great day for him, he felt more important and his parents were very proud of him. All Bilbo's friends arrived to the ceremony and everyone was dancing through all night. He remembered this party till the end of his days ( and there were a lot of them). During the party Bungo officially bequeathed to Bilbo his counting shop and just after the ceremony Bilbo made his first own really big contract with Brownies from Azure Mountains. Also after that party Bungo tried to rebuild the friendship with Longo. You can guess what the result was like. Even Belladonna didn't have enough power to help, she only wrote about everything in her letters and diaries. After the next 3 years, at the age of 80, died Bongo. Bilbo couldn't forgive himself such a fast loss of father. Belladonna broke down, as she lost two, very close to her heart people. At the funeral arrived a lot of familiars, including: Gandalf, Buckland inheritor, Brownie Grorl and ...no ... there wasn't Longo Baggins there. Well...A few years later Belladonna died, she couldn't stand life of sadness and nostalgia. Bilbo became an alone man. The mink under the Hillock was almost empty, only memories stayed there ...nothing more ...only memories ... but... Life had to still exist and ...
... in a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort...
